Chapter 218
Summer POV
My heart beat wildly in my chest. Time slowed down as I craned my neck up to look at him. My throat dried as I stared into his silver eyes. He had chicated chin and sharp cheek bones that were shaded by a shadow of stubble. He had short dark hair that were tousled like he had run his fingers through it. And that was the only thing that was soft about him. Rest was rugged, untamed, feral. Tattoos lined up his biceps and disappeared under the sleeves of his green t–shirt, their edges appearing at the base of his columnar neck. He looked like a God, like he had come out a fantasy novel.
Surely, he was one of the Alpha’s looking for a Luna. I had read a lot of literature in the brochure Laura gave me in the flight. So I had some knowledge about the terms werewolves used. But I had to yet see one turning into a wolf. How crazy would that be?
With his brows creased he stared at me intently as if searching for something. Something I couldn’t put my finger on. Under his gaze, my cheeks heated. I almost tumbled, but he steadied me with strong hands. And the moment he touched me, my soul left. I tried to get away from him but he let out a low warning. I clamped my mouth shut before I did something stupid like moan.

everyone’s name. However, I wasn’t a candidate.
“Sorry,” I muttered, and stepped back. “I–I’m not a Luna candidate.” I brought my tray in front of me to use it to step away from him.
“Are you alright?” Laura’s honeyed voice sounded behind me.
In panic, I jerked away from his hold on my arms. The pain in my arms made me realize that he had held me in a very tight grip. My breath was shallow. The Alpha in front of me let out a snarl, his eyes flashing gold.
Laura looked at him, and her eyes went wide. “Oh, my God! Alpha Bradley of the Shadowfang pack,” she said excitedly, her eyes turning dreamy. “It’s such a pleasure to meet you!” She looked at me with disdain. “I–I’m so sorry for her clumsy behavior. She’s my maid, Summer. I don’t know who gave her the permission to enter this breakfast venue.” She shot me a deathly glare. “I apologize for her misbehavior.”
So the tall, beautiful, muscular wolf had a name to go with his feral growl and eyes.
I had to get the hell out of here. It was humiliating with the way Laura was speaking about me. Lowering my head, I mumbled a sorry and started to
leave.
“Wait,” Bradley growled. Why was he so angry? What had I done to him? This was the first time I was meeting him, yet he behaved so furious like I had destroyed his life. “She can have her meals here,” he said in an authoritative voice without looking at Laura, and still staring at me. “And no one will stop
her.”
“Are you already staking a claim, Alpha Bradley?” an amused voice sounded behind us.
“Alpha Damon of Crimson Howl pack!” Laura chirped, getting excited by the minute. “Gods, I’m so lucky to meet with both of you at the same time.” She batted her eyelashes at them.
Damon didn’t pay her attention, but he turned to me and placing his hand on my hand said, “And who are you, little one?”
With another feral growl, Bradley smacked his hand away from my shoulder. Danger bells rang in my head. It felt like the walls were closing in. I didn’t want to be a part of any pissing match between two men who looked like they could snap my neck effortlessly only for their amusement.
“Whoa!” Damon chuckled, snapping his gaze at Bradley. “You have scared the little human.”
I had to get away from them as soon as possible. Laura was already shooting daggers at me. That was my cue to leave. So I stepped away from them and made my way to the farthest quiet corner outside the room on the balcony. When I glanced over my shoulder, I found Bradley’s dark gaze on me. A shiver ran down my spine, and I quickly averted my gaze.
The corner where I sat was absolutely quiet. It was hidden from everyone, and felt safe. However, a few minutes later, Laura came over to me.

Are you fucking mad?” she hissed. “How could you piss off Alpha Bradley? He is the heir of the Shadowfang pack, and the host of this Luna trials.
Igulped. “It was a mistake. I’m sorry.”
“Get out of here before you make more mistakes,” she snapped. “And don’t come unless I ask you to.”
“Then what about my meals?” I asked in a low voice, scared of her.
“You won’t die if you won’t have your food for a day,” she barked. “I’ll ask the manager to send something for you at the end of the day when everyone has had their dinner. You can divide that into three meals, understood?”
Tears stung at the back of my eyes. “Okay…” I mumbled.
She looked at my plate. “Now finish this up fast and go to the room. The ball is in the evening and you better prepare my dress for it.”
“Y–yes,” I replied. She got up and left in a huff. I let out a sigh of relief and gobbled my food as fast as I could. As I headed to my room, I saw Bradley watching me with the same intensity. If only I could escape from this place. Humiliation was my way of life. But how much could a human bear? Everyon in my life made it a point to humiliate me. Why? Because I wanted to live a nice life? Because I didn’t want to be some junkie or a criminal? I could’ve left my father long back after prolonged episodes of abuse, but I stayed back only so that when I had enough money, I could leave it all behind me. However now I was stuck in this disgusting situation for life. And the only way to get out of here was to escape.
So I looked around, taking in my surroundings and memorizing every detail of the resort. The resort was surrounded with tall walls, and a thick and dense forest lay beyond it. Tucking my hair behind my ear, I realized that there was no one in the lobby or near the elevators. Just the receptionist who gave me a tight smile and went back to work. Did that mean that I was the only non–candidate here?
Laura came back an hour later, her mood sullen. I had taken out a few gowns from her cupboards. “This place sucks!” she said, sitting down on the couch. “The women don’t want to interact with me,” she whined. “They think they are some kinds of goddesses. Superior to me. Like hell! They don’t know how rich ram. And those Alphas–they have eyes only for the she–wolves. Then why did they call me?”
I didn’t reply to her because I knew her. She behaved like an entitled kid always. She wanted people to come to her and be friends with. But friendship was a two–way street. You had to initiate talks sometimes.
“My stylist will be coming here in the evening. Make sure that you give her all the makeup I brought. I’m not gonna use their stuff!” She rolled her eye Then she narrowed them on me. “How did you bump into Alpha Bradley?”
Color drained from my cheeks. What was she insinuating? “I didn’t bump into him. It was the other way round,” I said in a careful voice.
She clenched her jaw. “Just behave yourself and don’t step out of line. I’ll not hesitate to tell it to daddy. Get that?”
I nodded. “Yes.”
“Good. Now get the red nail polish and apply it on toenails. I have to prepare for the lunch.”
