Chapter 4
A deafening boom exploded right next to my car. I honestly thought I’d gone deaf.
My head rang like a gong, and everything around me twisted and warped. All I could feel was burning pain from head to toe.
“Dominic… He actually tried to kill me–for real this time,” I thought, rage burning inside me.
Flames were spreading fast inside the room. I crawled across the floor, dragging myself to a corner and pushing a table in front of me as a shield. I waited… and waited.
When I finally heard voices, the maid beside me had burned to a crisp, blackened beyond recognition. Only her shape proved she was once
human.
Outside, I heard someone talking. It was Dominic.
“Is she dead?”
“A woman’s dead, yeah. Not totally sure if it’s Rowena. But we’ve already finished off everyone else who refused to surrender. She’s the only one who might still be inside.”
Through a crack in the wall, I saw Dominic walk in with his hands behind his back.
He looked down at the maid’s body, a wild gleam of satisfaction in his
eyes.
“If Rowena died early, then I’ve just changed history.”

His soldier looked confused. “Delta, what do you mean by that?”
I clutched my mouth and nose, holding my breath as I watched him throw his head back and laugh, then point his sword toward Dad’s quarters.
“Call everyone together. We’re not running off into the woods. We’re paying the Packhouse a little visit.”
“Delta, wait. Please think this through. We don’t have enough men to fight the Royal Guard.”
“Who says you’re the only ones?”
Dominic looked like he already had a crown on his head. He marched out proudly, his final words lingering in the smoke behind him. “Every warrior from the Frost Fang Pack will fight for me.”
“Frost Fang Pack…” I repeated the words in my head. The same one that helped him seize power in my last life.
I held my breath until my lungs screamed, waiting another half an hour before finally forcing myself to crawl out of hiding.
By the time the Royal Guard arrived, it was too late.
“Ms. Thalor.”
“Go! Protect my father. Dominic is trying to commit treason. He’s trying to kill my father and take the Alpha title for himself.”
The captain’s face turned pale. Without a word, he turned and rushed toward the palace at full speed.
I pulled out the war maps hidden under my bed, gritting my teeth through the pain, and ran for the door.
Only to find my way blocked by a huge young and old crowd standing at

the gate.
Leading them were elders from the Varyn family. They used to hold important positions, but now they wore plain linen like common wolves, their faces filled with anger as they shouted at me.
“Ms. Thalor, what the hell is going on? All our people from the Varyn family just got stripped of their titles. The ones running businesses had their land and shops seized for the national treasure.”
“We can’t even afford to eat anymore. Folks who just wanted normal lives are out on the streets, some almost starved to death!”
“We helped the Alpha build this kingdom. And Dominic? He’s still your mate. How can the Alpha’s family be this heartless? What about Finn? Don’t you owe him something?”
The Varyn family had produced Deltas for generations. But in this generation, Dominic was the only one.
The rest had no interest in war. Some just wanted peaceful lives, while others threw themselves into trade and business.
But Dominic? He was the most ambitious one of them all.
I gritted my teeth and shouted, “This isn’t the time for this. Dominic has teamed up with Frost Fang Pack! He’s trying to kill my father and crown himself Alpha of the Red Moon Pack!
“Everything he did before begging mercy for enemy spies already cost the Varyn family its legacy. If he goes through with this, he’ll bring the whole Varyn family down with him!”
The crowd fell silent, stunned. Then one of Dominic’s uncles, Micah Varyn, slowly stepped forward. Without a word, he pulled a token from his pack, his face grim as stone, and turned away.
“That bastard is going to destroy us all.”
