Chapter 5
Outside the Packhouse, the guards had all been slaughtered.
Dominic stood with Elise in his arms, gazing at where he’d once knelt for three days and nights straight.
Elise’s eyes grew misty. She let out a soft sigh.
“Dominic, when Daisy and I were locked up, we thought we’d never see you again. Daisy even said if there’s a next life, she wants to be born as your daughter right from the start. That way, she’ll never go hungry again.”
Daisy hugged his leg and looked up with hope. “Daddy, are we gonna get cake tonight?”
“We will, sweetheart. Once Daddy finishes everything, you’ll have more cake than you could ever eat.
“And your mom?” He smiled at Elise. “She’ll finally get the Luna ceremony she deserves.”
Daisy giggled and nodded. Elise snuggled against him with a proud smile. “Daisy is about to become the Alpha’s daughter.”
The mention of an Alpha’s daughter made Dominic think of me burned alive in that bedroom.
He let out a cold, mocking laugh. “Rowena? Please. She thought the title of Alpha’s daughter gave her the right to look down on me.
“I was born to lead. The only reason I chose her as my mate was to use her as a stepping stone to get a taste of power early. Did she really think I
loved her?”
Elise laughed softly and kissed his cheek. “I wish you all the success you dream of”
The sound of galloping hooves came from a distance; it was the Frost Fang Pack soldiers.
Dominic pulled her in tighter and raised his voice for all to hear. “I, Dominic, in this life and the next–no, for all eternity will become the greatest Alpha that’s ever lived!”
As he stormed the Packhouse with his troops, the Alpha was inside, urgently trying to send word to my brother.
When the Alpha saw Dominic walk in, his face changed instantly. “You really had the guts to come here.”
The warriors surrounded the Alpha and the few Betas by his side. Dominic stood tall and smug, his tone dripping with sarcasm. “Why wouldn’t I come? You only won your title thanks to my grandfather’s victories in battle. He handed you your crown. And now I’m here. You should be thanking me.”
“You believe you can force your way into power with just your little band of fighters, do you? This palace is guarded by the Royal Guard. If you have any sense left, you’ll surrender now, or else…”
“Oh yeah?” Dominic’s smile twisted. “Or else what?”
A lazy, amused voice chimed in from the doorway. It was the Alpha of Frost Fang Pack, Magnus Korvath, strolling in like he owned the place.
Dominic beamed with pride.
“What you don’t know is that your entire Royal Guard no longer belongs to you. Yeah, they’re mine now. They follow only me.

“You’re the one who should be surrendering. Get on your knees while you still have the chance, and maybe I’ll just let you live.”
The Alpha’s arms were pinned down, but he still held his head high. “Never! I have a son and a daughter. I believe they’ll come for me!”
Dominic’s smile faded. “Your precious Rowena is dead. And your son? He’s hundreds of miles away, visiting another pack. You can grit your teeth and cry all you want. They’re not coming.”
“You! You’ve gone mad?”
Magnus lazily picked up a pen from the table, spinning it in his hand, looking bored.
“Dominic, I didn’t follow you into the palace to hear you bicker. How about you hurry up and finish this already? No loose ends.”
Dominic’s face darkened. He raised his blade and pointed it straight at the Alpha.
“Starting today, Red Moon Pack no longer answers to the Thalor family. From now on, it belongs to Dominic’s family!”
Suddenly, a voice rang out from the entrance. “Delta! Rowena has been captured at the Packhouse gate?”
I was dragged inside, struggling against the guards. Dominic’s face froze in shock. “You’re not dead?”
“Dad!”
I broke free and ran to shield my father with my body.
Then I turned to the man I had loved for five years, staring him down with everything I had left.

“Dominic, while you were doing all of this, did you ever stop to think about the people in your family?”
