Chapter 21
The moment those words left my mouth, Ethan’s eyes went wide with shock Seeing his reaction, I let out a soft laugh, stood on my tiptoes, and kissed him.
“Ethan, I don’t love him anymore. I’m trying to love you, so do me a favor and get rid of him. He‘ a real eyesore.”
Ethan unconsciously licked his lips, his finger brushing the spot where I kissed him, looking happier than a kid on Christmas.
“Okay, I’ll get rid of him. He won’t bother you again.”
He gently pushed me toward the company entrance, and just like that, all that awkward cuteness from before vanished.
Ethan deliberately left the lipstick mark, walking towards Clay and punching him hard.
“Clay, why are you still bothering my wife? She said she won’t forgive you. Your efforts are pathetic!”
“You didn’t cherish her before, hurt her over and over, and now you want to play the victim and guilt–trip her with your
little entourage? You really think that’s gonna win her back?”
As he spoke, his punches and kicks came faster and harder, his eyes flashing with a ruthless light. He was beating Clay like he was trying to erase him from existence.
“Ethan, Maya truly loves me. I’ll apologize; I’ll do whatever she wants. But this is none of business!”
your
“You’re just an opportunist who swooped in when she was vulnerable. Don’t think she’ll ever love you!”
They grappled, each blow merciless, their taunts cutting deep.
Ethan sneered, “Love you? If she loved you, would she have married me? Would she kiss me and do all the things a wife does? Clay, stop flattering yourself.”
“She doesn’t love you, she won’t forgive you. Give it up!”
Suddenly, a squad of bodyguards showed up behind Ethan. He wasn’t trying to play fair–he’d call in the whole army if it meant getting rid of Clay. After all, this was his turf.
A bunch of bodyguards pinned Clay down, giving him no chance to fight back. He was covered in bruises, but it was like he couldn’t even feel the pain. He just kept staring at me, desperate, refusing to miss a single expression on my face.
“Maya…I’m sorry…”
He coughed out, coughing up blood.
He was badly hurt, yet his gaze remained on me.

Ethan felt disgusted. He gestured for the bodyguards to drag Clay away.
He meticulously wiped away Clay’s blood until everything was clean, then approached me.
“Maya, did you think I was too violent?”
His usually detached face was filled with concern.
I shook my head.“No.”
“I just didn’t expect Clay to come crawling back. Wasn’t he supposed to spend the rest of his life with Riley?”
Ethan told me everything he’d learned about Riley.
I was shocked by her what she’d done.
I never thought Clay’s regret would come out like this. It was ironic.
I stood by him for years, treated him so well, and it never moved him. But now, after Riley really hurt him–cheated on him, used him, tried to take the Sterling family from him–now he finally lets go of his feelings for her.
He only felt the pain when the knife was in his own flesh.
If Riley had made Clay get rid of a child, would he have found it so easy? If she needed a bone marrow transplant and it had to be his, would he still act like it was no big deal?
