Chapter 24
Bang!
With a look of pure fury in Ethan’s eyes, he landed a punch square on Clay’s face, then snapped. his finger back until he let go of me.
“Let her go! She doesn’t want you! Kill yourself if you want! Don’t drag Maya into your mess and dirty her hands!”
Still gripping the knife, Ethan drove it in with force, and blood gushed out even more violently. Seeing my panic, he looked at me with icy calm and reassured me, “Don’t worry, Clay’s fine. He’ll lose some blood, but he won’t die from this.”
“He’s just trying to make
you
feel sorry.
Hearing Ethan’s words, I slowly regained my composure and stared coldly at Clay.
“Stop the games, Clay. I won’t forgive you. You didn’t love me–you’re just not used to life without me waiting on you hand and foot.”
“You’ve got a whole team of secretaries and assistants at the office, and a house full of maids and a butler at home. Even if
home. Even if your health is bad, there are plenty of top doctors waiting to treat you.”
“You don’t need me, and you didn’t love me. One day, you’ll get used to life without me.
Slap!
I slapped him hard across the face, hoping to snap him out of it.
He clutched his wound, his laughter manic, tinged with profound sadness.
“Maya, I truly loved you, why don’t you believe me? It hurts so much. Why can’t you care about. me like you used to? Can’t we just go back to how things were? Back then, we couldn’t live without each other.”
“Cough…secretaries, assistants, staff, doctors…I don’t need them! I only need you…”
Clay desperately reached for me, but his voice grew weaker and weaker. With all the blood loss. and his body still not recovered, he finally collapsed and passed out.
Watching him like that, I didn’t feel a shred of pity, nor did I feel any satisfaction from getting
revenge.
I just took my bone marrow and left with Ethan.
“Ethan, I want to completely crush Clay. Only then will he leave me alone. All those little tricks. before were too soft, that’s why he still has so much free time.”
My eyes were cold, wiping the blood from my clothes with disgust.
Ethan nodded, putting his arm around me, his voice gentle. “I’ll support you, as long as you don’t

We didn’t want to kill Clay. On the way out, called emergency services before leaving.
Clay woke up in the hospital to a call from his assistant.
“Mr. Sterling, please come back. That illegitimate son has been released by the old man and is still trying to go against you. Ms. Moore and Ethan are relentlessly attacking the company.
don’t return, there will be serious consequences!”
Clay took a deep breath.“I’ll be back soon.”
Π
After hanging up, he was filled with despair.
If you
No matter what, I would never feel sorry for him. He’d tried everything, but I only saw Ethan.
Would defeating Ethan make me return?
Clay clung to that impossible hope as he gritted his teeth and forced himself out of the hospital.
For months, he lived at the company, rarely going home. His eyes were bloodshot; he was gaunt.
The company was under siege from all sides, and he was fighting alone. It was brutal.
Back when I was there, I helped him carry the load. Now, the only time he saw me was during business competitions.
I was thriving, working seamlessly with Ethan. Our partnership was seamless, and the company was thriving.
Several bids failed; strategic decisions went awry; projects fell apart.
It was like Clay was cursed–problems just kept piling up, suffocating him.
Day after day, he was so busy he barely had time to think about me. Only in the dead of night did the pain come back, tearing him apart.
On a business trip, driving across a lake bridge, Clay’s car malfunctioned, speeding uncontrollably.
With a loud crash, his car hit the railing, his legs numb with pain. His head hit the wheel; blood poured out.
The car plunged off the bridge into the lake.
He lost consciousness.
When he woke up, the doctor told him his legs were done for–he’d never walk again. He was right back where he started, only this time, I was never coming back.
This is the end of the story.
Now, let’s go for a new identity, a new story.
