My daughter Lily was about to get her robotics trophy when some Chanel wearing woman jumped up.[]
“Wait! Doesn’t this school have that donation policy? Five million for ten bonus points?” She flashed a black card. “Five mil right here. First place goes to My daughter!“]]
The gym went silent. The principal nodded reluctantly.
Lily looked devastated. “But I earned first place!“]]
The woman’s brat rolled her eyes. “Too bad, Lily. I’ve got a rich daddy. That MIT spot is mine now.“[]
Watching my kid’s face fall broke me. I walked over and grabbed Lily’s hand.[]
“Hold up. You’re serious about that five mil? Let’s swipe that card right now.“[]
She smirked. “My husband’s loaded. Go ahead!“]
I had to bite back a laugh. That fancy card she was waving around? []
It was MY backup card. The one I gave my house husband for his allowance.[]

Charlotte Sterling shot me a look like I was dirt under her Louboutins and practically threw her card at the teacher.[]
Someone in the crowd literally choked on their own spit. “Jesus Christ, that’s a Centurion Card! You need like a billion dollar net worth just to TOUCH one of those!“]

Charlotte was absolutely living for this moment, soaking up every bit of worship like some kind of money goddess.
Then she turned to Lily with the most disgusting, condescending smile I’d ever seen.]
“Aw, honey bunny. Maybe next time tell Mommy and Daddy to work a little harder, yeah? You peasants can grind all you want, but at the end of the day, you’re just there to make US look better.“[]
Lily’s whole face turned tomato red. She was practically shrieking. “This isn’t fair! I earned first place!“]
My kid had been obsessed with robotics since she could barely walk. Three years of blood, sweat, and tears went into this competition, and that MIT program was everything to her.[]

Madison was practically vibrating with evil glee. “Face it, Lily! You never stood a chance against me! All your little science projects and late nights? Completely PATHETIC compared to Daddy’s bank account!“]
“Mommy, can I go claim my prize now?“]
Charlotte shot me the most smug, eat–shit grin imaginable. “Of course, princess.“]]
Lily looked absolutely destroyed, just kept whispering, “I won… I actually won… I won…”

My heart was breaking for her, but I was also trying not to crack up. I leaned down and whispered the tea in her ear.]
Her jaw dropped. “Mom, are you serious right now?”
I winked. “Just watch the show, baby.“]
Right as Madison was power walking to the stage like she was accepting an Oscar, the teacher came sprinting back over, looking panicked.[]
“Mrs. Sterling! I’m so sorry, but your card’s been completely frozen! The transaction won’t go through!“]
