Chapter 3
Outside the room, there came the discontented voices of others.
“It was just a joke, Alpha. Why are you suddenly so uptight?”
Blake lowered his voice, forcefully suppressing his anger.
“Jenna has been afraid of water since she was little. How could you joke around using the thing she fears the most?”
“Then take it as payback. Lindsey’s back now, don’t you want to be with her early?”
“You’ve already done plenty of awful things before. What’s difference if we did it again?”
Someone said carelessly.
But that remark ignited Blake’s fury.
He kicked the table hard.
“How dare you talk to me like that? I’m your Alpha, and she’s my mate.”
“She just had surgery, and you treat her like this? What if her wounds reopen?”
too.”
Hearing this, Lindsey’s expression turned extremely upset. She stared at Blake and asked softly.
“Blake, it’s only been four years. Have you already changed your heart?”
Almost immediately, Blake blurted out.
“Impossible. The one I’ve always loved is you. That will never change!”
Hearing this, the others immediately erupted into cheers.
“Lindsey and Alpha have always had feelings for each other. If Jenna hadn’t gotten in the way, they would’ve been together long ago.”
“She’s so shameless. We have to teach her a harsh lesson before she leaves. Let her know that karma always comes back.”
“She hurt Lindsey with a car crash, and Lindsey missed the warrior trials because of a leg injury. To make things right, we need to break her legs
Blake’s friends all chimed in, but his face darkened as he spoke in a low voice.
“No. Jenna’s body can’t take that kind of damage anymore.”
In the silence that followed, Lindsey suddenly began to cry.
“Blake, you told me you only rebonded with her to get revenge on my behalf. Now that I’m back, why are you still protecting her?”
“You saw how badly my leg was injured. Now I just want justice for myself. Can’t you even give me that?”
Blake immediately panicked. He held Lindsey in his arms and kissed her forehead.
After gazing at her for a long moment, he rasped to his friends.
“Don’t go too far. I don’t want to owe her anything.”
Listening to their words, I felt a tightness in my heart.
So for Lindsey’s happiness, my life could just be tossed aside?
Fine, then don’t blame me for striking back.
I took out my phone and sent a message to my mother.
After finishing their discussion, the group noisily dispersed.
Blake opened the bedroom door and sat at the edge of my bed.
Perhaps seeing how pale I looked, curled up under the blanket, stirred some guilt in him. He leaned down, trying to kiss me, but I pushed him away.
His fingers froze for a moment before he forced a gentle smile.
“Babe, I’m sorry you were hurt today. I’ve booked a reservation at that French restaurant you always wanted to try. Don’t forget our lunch
tomorrow.”

My heart had gone completely cold, but I gave a slight nod in response.
The next morning, Blake claimed he needed to go see the pack doctor for a follow–up and told me to drive to the restaurant first.
As I accepted the keys, I asked softly.
“Blake, if you were given another chance, would you still choose to be with me?”
There was a flicker of reluctance in his eyes, but he still smiled and rubbed my head.
“Don’t overthink it. You’re the one I love most in this life. Always.”
Watching him walk away, I gave a quiet smile. This was the last chance I would ever give him.
I went into the garage, got in the car, and quietly started the engine.
The car drove out of the pack house and quickly followed the GPS onto the expressway.
The minimum speed here was 100 miles per hour, and in the forest nearby, Blake and his friends were watching my car through binoculars.
Before reaching the destination, there was a sharp turn.
As the car swerved, instead of slowing down, it sped up. The tires screeched against the pavement with a sharp noise.
The listening device in the car transmitted my terrified scream in real time.
“What’s happening? The car’s skidding!”
“Blake, where are you? I’m scared–I don’t want to die!”
Like bloodthirsty bads, they burst into laughter at my cries.
They watched as my car lost control and crashed into the roadside barrier.
With a loud bang, the car crumpled and came to a halt.
Blake led the applause.
“When she calls for help, I’ll tell her I’m rejecting her and severing our mate bond.”
But suddenly, everything changed.
Smoke began to billow from the front of the car, and flames burst out.
Before their eyes, the car exploded, leaving behind nothing but wreckage.
