Chapter 7
In a flash, Blake shouted, “Watch out!” and instinctively shielded me with his body.
There was a sickening thud, and a pained expression immediately twisted across Blake’s face. Blood began to seep through his clothes.
A wave of screams erupted from the onlookers.
Lindsey’s vicious expression crumbled in an instant. Panic consumed her as she shook her head frantically.
“Blake, I didn’t mean to hurt you! It’s just–this bitch actually came back from the dead! I thought if I killed her, I’d finally have a future with you…”
Before she could finish, the warriors Blake had brought with him quickly restrained her and dragged her away.
Not long after, a pack doctor and the werewolf police arrived.
As the victim, I had no choice but to return with them to cooperate with the investigation.
After signing the necessary paperwork, I was informed that Blake had made it through surgery.
Hoping to avoid further trouble, I grabbed my bag and turned to leave.
But somehow, Blake had managed to drag himself out of bed. He stumbled out of the ICU, collapsed at my feet, and clung to me with all his remaining strength.
His voice was slurred from the anesthesia, but I could still make out the words: “Don’t… leave me.”
How ridiculous.
I looked down at Blake, tears streaming down his face, and all I could see was the memory of myself, exhausted and bleeding, rushing to his hospital
bedside after transferring half of my werewolf powers to save his life.
Back then, I had given him everything.
Even when my wounds tore open and I could barely stand, I didn’t care. My heart was filled with nothing but love for my mate.
But never again.
Once was enough for my sincerity to be trampled on.
I knelt down and pried his fingers off me one by one, staring him straight in the eye.
“Blake, what right do you have to ask anything of me?”
“I loved you with everything I had. I gave you my heart, and how did you repay me?”
“You weren’t even sick, just lying in that hospital bed, laughing with your so–called friends while mocking me–calling me delusional, treating my
love like a joke.”
“You saw me injured and broken, and instead of caring, you tortured me a second time with wolfsbane.”
“You were the one who couldn’t wait for me to disappear from your life. Now that I’m finally leaving, you’re begging me to stay?”
“Have you even stopped to think–what makes you think you deserve that?”
Blake was clearly remembering what had happened to me that day.
After a long silence, he struggled to defend himself.
“I destroyed the packs of those who hurt you. I threw Lindsey in prison. I even took a knife for you…”
“I’ve done all that–why can’t we start over?”
His words only made me feel more bitterly amused.
“Lindsey fell down the stairs on her own. Then she turned around and accused me of pushing her. While we were still together, you asked me about it over and over again, and I always told you the truth.”
“With your resources, finding out what really happened should’ve been easy.”
“But you saw there were security cameras in that hallway and still chose to ignore them. You convinced yourself that trusting her was noble.”
“Stop making excuses for your filth. You had no problem torturing me ninety–nine times based on hearsay. Now you want my sympathy? That’s not going to happen.”

Blake’s face twisted in pain. His mouth opened and closed, but in the end, he couldn’t say a single coherent word.
I had no interest in arguing any further. I kicked him square in the chest and turned to walk away.
“I kept evidence of everything you did. If you keep harassing me, I won’t hesitate to go public.”
At the door, my mother was anxiously waiting for me. When she saw that I was safe and unharmed, she finally let out a breath of relief.
We left together.
