Chapter 8
After that day, my mother was afraid I’d fall into a dark mood, so she insisted on taking me away from the pack to visit my uncle’s pack and help me
clear my head.
1 had always loved literature since I was a child.
After my mother put a complete stop to all my pack–related duties, I began writing again in the garden of my uncle’s pack house.
With lyrical prose and a life etched by dramatic turns, my work resonated deeply upon release, drawing waves of acclaim.
I thought that from then on, my life would have nothing more to do with Blake.
But one day, I received a call from an unfamiliar number. It was Blake’s mother–the former Luna of his pack.
From the very start of my relationship with Blake, she had never liked me. She had made her disdain clear on multiple occasions, in both subtle remarks and outright hostility.
I remembered clearly–on the third year after we rebonded, Blake brought me to meet his mother.
The moment she saw me, she was displeased. Right in front of a group of maids, she ordered me to serve her coffee.
It was a delicate pot that Blake had carefully selected. Small, refined, but extremely heat–conductive.
I had no idea Blake was planning some sort of revenge. I reached for it without thinking–and instantly got a blister on my hand. In the chaos, the coffee splashed out and landed on his mother’s hand.
She exploded in rage. On that snowy Christmas night, she threw me out of the pack house without even letting me wear shoes.
I walked ten kilometers barefoot through the forest before finally making it out.
My soles were cut and bloodied by stones along the way.
But the next day, when she saw my feet wrapped in bandages, all she did was frown in disgust.
“Is this really how future Luna acts? Can’t believe such a weakling is supposed to be a future Luna.”
Now, that same mother’s voice rang in my ear, surprisingly gentle.
“Jenna, could you please come back and spend some time with Blake?”
“Ever since you left that day, he’s been running a high fever. He refuses treatment and keeps saying it’s penance for you. He’s pushing his body to
the brink.”
“Now he’s started drinking heavily and mixing alcohol with sedatives.”
1
“You’re the only mate and Luna he’s ever acknowledged. How can you just watch him waste away like this? Please, come talk some sense into him.”
I let out a cold laugh and rejected her outright.
“It’s just a fever. How dare you disturb me over something so trivial?”
On the other end of the line, I could hear her fly into a rage and start cursing. I hung up without a word and blocked her number.
From that moment on, no matter how Blake tried to guilt–trip or manipulate me, I ignored it all.
Day by day, he finally came to understand that my hatred for him was not a bluff.
Even so, he stayed trapped in his delusions, believing that if he showed enough affection and remorse, he’d win me back someday. He even used my name every time his company launched a new product.
I had enough. After issuing three formal warnings, I filed charges in the werewolf court for defamation and intentional harm.
After all the abuse Blake had put me through over the years, my body bore countless scars. Gathering evidence was effortless.
He was soon arrested and brought to trial.
When the news broke, the public was in shock.
No one had expected that the seemingly devoted and successful Alpha was actually such a vile man behind closed doors.
The day of the trial was the last time Blake and I would ever meet.
He was skin and bones, hunched over at the defendant’s stand, staring at me with vacant, haunted eyes.

No matter what the judge asked, he admitted guilt without protest.
When it was his turn to speak, he bowed deeply, eyes full of guilt.
“Jenna… I’m sorry.”
I calmly rubbed my ear, expression unreadable.
It apologies could fix everything, why would we need the law?
After receiving the verdict, I walked out of the werewolf court with a light step.
My mother was waiting outside for me.
When she saw me, her face lit up with a bright smile.
“Jenna, I’ve booked us on the most luxurious cruise. Let’s travel round the world!”
I smiled and nodded.
From that moment on, I stepped into a brand–new life.
