Chapter 5
I frown and look over.[]
A little girl is covering her mouth, coughing desperately. Her cheeks are flushed red and she seems to be struggling to breathe.[]
“She’s probably scared from the explosion. She already has asthma…”
I take a deep breath. “Officer Williams, how about a trade? Tell me exactly what you found in that bathroom, and I’ll release one child.“]
The parents immediately get excited, urging Officer Williams to speak up.
One piece of information–how could that compare to a living child?]
Officer Williams has no choice but to tell the truth about the passage.[]
They found a hidden tunnel behind the toilet tank and discovered my daughter’s watch inside.]
I push out the little girl having the asthma attack]
Her mother immediately rushes over to hug her, then tearfully thanks me repeatedly.]
The crowd’s mood shifts quickly.
They start saying things like, “This kidnapper has some conscience–she really won’t kill before time’s up!”
“I feel like she has her reasons. If my kid disappeared, I’d want to die.“]
These people are scary–no backup plan, but even someone like that has a mother’s heart!”
I almost want to laugh
I’m the kidnapper, but just because I did one small good deed, I’m suddenly a saint.
I stare at the bathroom, thinking about the passage’s exact location
Maybe because of the earlier explosion, tiny cracks appeared in the ceiling
I suddenly widen my eyes because I see the crack has reached the wall but continues spreading inside it.]
Now I know where the passage is
And I finally understand exactly where my daughter is
I take two deep breaths and actually feel more relaxed.
“Officer Williams, let’s make another deal i want to see someone. Once I see hi
see him. Til release a batch of kids.”
Officer Williams immediately agrees “Who do you want to see? We’ll bring him right over.”
I look down and say softly, “I want to see this city’s biggest philanthropist–Harrison Carter.”
“Fifteen minutes until the second child dies. Mr. Carter is a renowned philanthropist–I’m sure he won’t refuse.”
“Don’t worry, I just want to chat with him.“||]
Officer Williams finds himself in a dilemma.[]
I know what they’re thinking–they’re afraid I’ll put a bullet in Harrison.]
A famous entrepreneur versus a bunch of the nation’s future–which is more important?]
“Why do you have to see Harrison Carter?”
I’m silent for a moment. “When he gets here, you’ll understand.”
Fortunately, the police successfully contact him.
Harrison Carter actually agrees immediately, arriving on scene before the countdown ends.
I immediately release a batch of the youngest kids, who flutter out like little birds to find their parents.[]
The families cry tears of joy, constantly thanking Harrison Carter.
Now he’s an elderly man with graying temples, standing in the courtyard with a cane, saying to me, “Peach, I never thought you’d become like this.“]
“For your own selfish desires, you’d actually hurt innocent children. As your teacher, I really misjudged you before.“]
My eyes burn with heat–I want to rush out and slap him.]
I ask coldly, “Do you have my daughter?”
Harrison Carter shows a helpless smile. “Peach, you’re still the same as before–severe paranoid delusions.”
“I didn’t even know you were here. How could I kidnap your daughter?“]
“On the contrary, three years ago your husband killed my son in a car accident. Now you want to throw mud at me again?”
Officer Williams is confused, and not just him–the entire internet is in chaos.
This kidnapping case is being broadcast globally and can’t be shut down
Countless eyes are watching this scene.
Harrison sndles regretfully and says with pity. “Peach, it’s not too late to turn back. I have already forgiven you for what happened before.”
I let out a bitter laugh. “Do I need your forgiveness? Let me tell you–your son got exactly what he deserved
