The phone rang twice.]
No answer.
Then I remembered–Dad had picked me up so late last night, he was probably still sleeping it off at the hotel.
Cold sweat trickled down my forehead.
Everyone’s judgmental stares made me squirm
After years of studying abroad, barely anyone at the company knew who I was.]
Quinn’s expression grew even more smug:]
“See? You don
You don’t have the balls to call my husband over.“]
“Get on your knees, apologize to me, slap yourself, and call yourself a homewrecker. Maybe then I’ll let this slide.“[]
When she loosened her grip, I finally broke free.[]
I kept hitting redial on my phone over and over.]
Quinn let out a dismissive laugh and held up her own phone:]
“Tine, let me call him instead–you know, the actual wife.”

A tired male voice answered:]
“Quinn, baby, what’s wrong?”
Quinn glared at me and put on this sickeningly sweet voice:
“Honey, your little side piece came to the office to mess with me.“]
“She’s even wearing those earrings you gave me. I’m so upset.“]
I got goosebumps listening to her art.]]
Dad’s voice turned all soothing:
“Quan, no matter what drama these other women cause, you’ll always be my baby.”
Quinn finally hung up the phone, satisfied.
Seeing me still dialing she suddenly raised her leg and kicked me hard in the side of my knee
I didn’t see it coming and stumbled, dropping straight to my knees in front of her
“You hear that?!”
“Just because you look a little like me doesn’t mean you can boss my husband around.“]
I was so mad I had to laugh.
Dad’s a player–he’s had a string of women over the years.]
Almost every single one looked like Mom.
Grandma tolerates it because he’s capable and helps me manage the company.
But now his mistress had the nerve to flip the script–I look like her?!![]
The coworkers watching this circus suddenly had one guy point his phone right at my face.]
“Check it out–this is the homewrecker who showed up at our office today.”
“Young girl like this could do anything with her life, but nah–society’s going to hell.“]
He brown–nosed his way over to Quinn’s side.]]
“Today we’re watching a wife beat down the side chick.”
The livestream chat exploded with trolls attacking me.]]
“I know her–think I’ve seen her at some club before.”
“The wife’s way hotter. This flat chested little brat is nothing special–don’t know what this dude was thinking.”
I said through gritted teeth
“I’ve already called the cops!”
“You’re calling me a homewrecker with zero proof and trashing my reputation. See you in court.”
Quinn just rolled her eyes at me
“Then how exactly are you gonna prove you’re not a side chuck? My husband and I have a marriage certificate–what do you have?”
1 stayed quiet and waited for the police to show up
With this woman’s sharp tongue, she’d definitely twist whatever I said and spin even more outrageous versions of the story
51 figured the best thing to do right now was keep my mouth shut
But Quinn wasn’t done with me yet
As I looked down, I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my ear
“Ahhr“]
I touched my ear–my hand came away bloody.[]
Quinn was now holding my earring.]
“Everyone come look–see how this earring matches the necklace around my neck?“]
Quinn pouted and showed off the jade necklace she was wearing.
I saw red.]
That was Mom’s necklace.[]
One of the few things she left me.]
