Chapter 8
a was struck by lighting and she suddenly looked up at Elaine.
The smug smile at the corner of her mouth confirmed her guess.
What hidden items, what mysterious buyers, all are carefully planned traps.
“Mr. Cressey,” Isabela’s voice trembled, “You can’t agree, I’m leaving after today…”
“Darren-” Elaine suddenly threw herself into Darren’s arms, interrupting him, “I want that necklaces You promised me –‘
She looked up, tears in her eyes, “Am I not as important as a secretary in your heart?”
Darren looked down at Elaine in his arms, then glanced at isabela, who was pale
He wiped away Elaine’s tears and said softly, “Don’t cry.”
Then he turned to the staff and said, “Tell the buyer, deal done.”
Isabela’s blood froze in an instant: “Darren! You can’t-
No sooner had she finished speaking, someone had already grabbed her arm
She struggled desperately, scratching the bodyguard’s arm with her nails, “Let go of me! Darren! I’m quitting tomorrow! You have no right..”
Her voice was cut off by the slamming car door.
The black car sped away, in the rearview mirror, Darren was gently putting a coat on Elaine.
In the Jucury suite, Isabela was pushed in roughly.
The door lock “clicked” shot, and she turned around to see a dirty beggar staring at her greedily.
The beggar grinned, showing his crooked yellow teeth.
Isabela was trembling all over, staggering backwards, “Don’t come closer.. I can give you money…
“Money?” The beggar grabbed her wrist, his foul breath hitting her face. “The money that lady gave me is enough for me to spend a lifetime! I don’t need money now, I need a woman!
Isabela was desperate, so she grabbed the table lamp for self–defense. When the beggar pounced on her, she smashed his head ercely.
Blood running down his forehead actually triggered his ferocity.
“What a jerk!” he grabbed her hair and threw her onto the bed.
The sound of fabric tearing was particularly harsh in the room
Isabela’s nails left deep blood marks on the beggar’s face, but they were no match for the man’s strength.
Just when she was completely hopeless-
“Bang!”
The door was kicked open.
Darren’s bodyguard rushed in and quickly subdued the beggar
“Isabela,” the lead bodyguard handed over the coat, “Mr. Cressey sent us to rescue you.”
Isabela shivered, wrapped her coat tightly, and took out her phone to call the police
The bodyguard quickly snatched the phone, saying “Mr. Cressey said you can’t call the police.”
“What do you mean?” Isabela’s voice was hoarse.
“Ms. Reilly didn’t mean it, she just wanted to vent. Mr. Cressey has already arranged for someone to save you, you’re fine, let’s just forget about it”
Isabela was struck by lightning: “He.. knew?”
The bodyguard nodded.
Isabela suddenly burst out laughing, laughing so hard that tears streamed down her face.

Darren used to know everything, but still let Elaine push her towards the abyss.
Her eyes welled up with tears, “What if I had to call the police?”
“No one at Smubar dared to take your case,” the bodyguard said expressionlessly. “Mr. Cressey said to give you a week off, so you can rest these days, consider it as compensation.”
After saying that, the bodyguard’s figure disappeared at the end of the corridor, and the door made a “click” sound.
Isabela slowly sat down on the ground, her fingertips digging deep into the palm of her hand.
The suit jacket slipped off her shoulders, revealing a torn collar. She reached to pick it up, but found her hand shaking badly
The phone suddenly rang, and the word “Mom” on the screen made her eyes sting
Bella, have you finished the handover? Have you arranged all the blind dates?”
Isabela bit her lower lip tightly, the taste of rust spreading in her mouth, but it was nothing compared to the pain in her heart.
“Okay, mom,” she heard her own terrifyingly calm voice, I’ll go back today.”
The moment the phone hung up, tears finally burst out.
Ten years flew by like a carousel in front of my eyes.
On the university campus, a young figure came into the light
In the president’s office, his breath was scorching hot after getting drunk
And tonight, he casually “closed the deal,”
Every memory became a sharp knife, cutting her heart into pieces.
Ten years of infatuation, only to be trampled on time and time again.
Isabela slowly got up, picked up her coat from the ground, straightened out her messy clothes, and returned to the apartment alone.
Her emotions had completely calmed down. In just thirty minutes, she calmly canceled the apartment rental, packed all her belongings, left the keys, and took a tad with her suitcase.
The taxi drove through the puddle and headed towards the airport.
There was a one–way ticket to a life thout Darren
