This was her second month at the new company.
Colleagues shared snacks in the pantry, gossiped together during lunch break. No one knew about her past struggles, and no one would suddenly throw coffee in her face.

Bella, can this data teach me how to verify?” T
“No problem,” she said with a smile after finishing the last sip of coffee, patiently guiding step by step on how to handle the data.
She did everything very seriously, never complained, and was very gentle to everyone
Everyone really liked Habela
Seamus from the marketing department shared his extra milkshake with her, Trenton from the R&D team taught her how to debug code, even the most serious technical director spoke to her in a gentle tone.
Isabela rubbed her sore neck, looked at the dense data charts and tables on the screen, and buckled down to continue editing.
This is the most important project of the company this year. This moming, the CTO suddenly called her into the office and said, “You will be in charge of this new project from now on.”
“[?” She was so shocked that she almost spilled the coffee
The director pushed his glasses and said, “Dr. Walter mentioned you’ve worked on similar cases before. I’ve seen your proposal.”
He pointed to the proposal she stayed up late writing last week, “Just move forward with this idea.”
Now she finally understands why Rhett insisted on her applying for this position.
In the reflection of the glass, she saw her eyes shining amazingly, with a captivating light flickering inside.
“Ms. Payne, your takeout is here,” the security guard said, poking his head in with a bag from “Hines Restaurant.”
They were all her favorite dishes
The sticky note said, “Just finished in the CT room, remember to eat while it’s hor.”
The signature also drew a crooked heart.
Isabela stared at the note for a long time, couldn’t help but laugh out loud
A warm feeling rushed over her, her hungry stomach got some food, and she felt happy both physically and mentally.
She carefully put the flash disk into her bag, and when she pushed open the company’s doos, Rhett was leaning against the gingke tree, reading medical
reports.
The streetlight turned his white coat into a wann yellow, beard footsteps, he looked up and shed, “Looks like I timed my punch card just right.”
“Weren’t you on the early shift tomorrow?” she asked, nunming over and sneezing from the night breeze.
Thert immediately took off his coat and wrapped it tightly around her, “The patient canceled the surgery last minute”
He took her laptop bag and couldn’t help but frown, “Why is it heavier than yesterday?”
“I added a mechanical hard drive,” she counted on her fingers, “to store all kinds of data, recently involved in CAD, and new modules…”
Before finishing his sentence, Rhelt had already crouched down and said, “Come here.”
“My heels were all blistered and I still wore high heels.” He turned and glared at her, “Are you trying to make me, an orthopedic doctor, lose my job?”
Isabela blushed and buried her face in his back.
Rhett smelled like a hint of disinfectant, mixed with the cool autumn air, reminding her of when she was a child, sick and being carried to the clinse by her family.
He took each step slowly and steadily, making her feel extremely reassured.
“Are you happy today? Rhett suddenly asked.

were worried about keeping up with the pace,” then chockled, “now own Trenton calls you Ms. Payne ”
The night breeze brushed through the treetops, Isabela pressed her face against his warm back.
Once upon a time, she thought leaving Darren’s world would be the end of the world, but now
The sycamore leaves rustled, as if answering for her..
After they got home, Rhett went to the kitchen to cut some fruit.
Isabela was sitting cross–legged on the carpet, with colorful sticky notes spread out in front of her.
When Rhett came over with the fruit tray, she was putting up “the overall process chart for the new project” on the wall.
“She feels like the Al module needs to be strengthened..” she muttered while biting the pen cap, suddenly being handed an apple.
Rhett pointed at the flowchart she hand–drew, “Add an encryption gateway
“Do you understand medical Al?” she asked, looking surprised.
here?”
“Ms. Payne kept nagging in my ear every day,” Rhett opened his notebook with a smile, “Try this interface. Our hospital just upgraded the network
architecture.
The sunlight streamed through the gaze curtain onto the floor, Isabela gazed at his focused profile.
Thoughts suddenly fleshed back, remembering the days at the Cressey’s villa
She always nervously tried to guess Darren’s preferences, even feeling like she had to control the volume of her breathing
Now, Rhett saves the sweetest strawberries for her, listens carefully to all her immature ideas, and sets up a special desk for her in the study.
“What are you staring at?” Rhett waved his hand in front of her.
oftly said, “Thank you.”
Isabela shook her head and buried her face in the steaming cup of coffes. In the mist, she softly
Not just polite, but thanking him for showing her such a world.
Steaming hot oatmeal after burning the midnight oil, sparks flying during brainstorming sessions, and sharing the sunset on the way home
These ordinary little warmth, they were slowly mending her shattered courage.
Isabela’s project was launched quickly, and she was promoted to team leader. Everyone threw a celebration party for her.
“Let’s raise a glass to Ms. Payne!” shouted the technical director, holding up a champagne flute. “You are truly an amazing person, so beautiful and talented, no one here wouldn’t like you!”
In the applause, Isabela was pushed onto the stage.
All eyes were on her as she instinctively searched for that figure.
Rhett stood at the back row, mouthing “Look at the teleprompter.”
She chuckled, and the nervousness suddenly disappeared
“The biggest contributor to this project was actually our medical consultant, Dr. Walter.”
She raised the trophy, and the spotlight shone right on her seat
Rhett’s ears turning red made her feel a bit soft in a corner of her heart
When they left, Rhett put the scarf around her neck and said, “It’s snowing
The first snow was falling, Isabela exhaled a puff of white air and said, “I feel like..”
She paused for a while, finally found the most fitting description, “Finally lived the way I wanted.”
Rhett suddenly turned around and hugged her.
The down jacket made a rustling sound as it rubbed against him, his heartbeat came through his chest, fast and heavy
“Not enough,” he whispered in her ear, “I want you to live your happiest life.”
Snow fell on their clasped hands, and neither of them let go.
